PULAU BESAR DI MELAKA

Big Island or Pulau Besar as its common name is a unique island and a hidden gem in Malacca without a doubt. This island located around 13 km from mainland Malacca and the only transportation is ferries that run from the Malacca Pier which located at Melaka Raya, and from Anjung Batu Jetty.
Big Island is an island that shroud with myth and legend especially when it involve its local citizen. It is one of the historical places especially when talking about the spreading of Islam religion in the early phase. There are also many tomb been left behind in this island before becoming one of the main attraction in the island nowadays especially when we talk about how it relatable with the historical place mention before. Thus, let’s talk about the attraction that keep attract people to come into this ancient island in the first place.
The well at the foot of the island is a unique place to start with. This well is believe to be used by Japanese soldier when Japan invading Tanah Melayu in World War 2. It’s been mentioned that all the Chinese head that been beheaded will be thrown into this same well. Thus until now, this well never been used by the local citizen in this island.
Batu Tengkorak is located near to the island. The reason why this stone call Batu Tengkorak is due to its shape that looks like a human skull. It been mentioned that the stone actually hidden a treasure inside it and there have many attempt been made into the stone but unfortunately all seem to be fail looking at the damage that been made.
Elves Village or known as Perkampungan Bunian is an area that been believe to be a hidden village at the Marina Resort. The story about inhabitant of Bunian people has spread widely among the entire tourist that seeks this hidden village. The truth of this story still been questioned but that didn’t stop the tourist to come into this island due to its story.
Batu Belah is one of the most places that become attention in the eye of tourist that come. This is due to the fact that the place holds a very interesting history and explanation why the stone condition becomes like that

.  This is the place where Panglima Lidah Hitam demonstrated his power by using his tongue to crack the rock into two more than century ago.
Shrine of Seven Princesses is one of the popular tombs visited by the tourist during their time on the island. The tomb actually belonging to seven princesses from India that coincident visited the island at one time. Unfortunately for the princesses, the island was struck down by an epidemic and thus was buried on the island while their graves had been marked with the shrine.


Conclusion, there are many history intertwined with the fate of this island.  Thus due to that reason, this island have many relic and ruin that actually have different culture and belief stranded till today. This unexpected creating an attraction for the tourist nowadays and making this one of the charm that this island has while others don’t.
