ASSAM LAKSA PENANG


This popular stall is located at Jalan Pasar which is just next to the Air Itam market. This place is just at the foot of a main tourist attraction Kek Lok Si Temple. If you nearby Penang, don’t waste your time and go visit it to feel the experience yourself.

Take a moment to look around and you shall notice this uncle who actually the owner is scooping up the aromatic soup in and out the bowl. You can see that the reason he does this repeatedly so that the thick vermicelli gets covered thoroughly in the gravy and the dish stays hot all the way until reach the customers.

He actually has many staff in his place. Each have their own task that helping with assembling the other key ingredients of cucumber, onions, red chilies, pineapple, and lettuce, mint and ginger and so on. We can see a commitment among customers that come and some even live far can come here for a bowl of Assam Laksa Penang.


RM4! Each bowl only cost 4 Malaysian Ringgit which become one of the main reason why the customers keep coming back for a bowl of it. RM 4 is a catch for many of us especially when the food is delicious and eye catching for us to resist. It’s worth it and don’t waste any your time in fact gaining something from it.

Finding a couple of seats on a crowded weekend afternoon may cost some sweat and time, but rest assured this is well worth the wait if you are a patient person. The bowl arrived, brimming with thick sweet prawn paste and shredded mackerel fish. As you scoop up tablespoons, the strands of thick rice noodles are covered by the generous ingredients.

First bite you will said yummy for sure. The soup is thick and not to mention balanced taste of sweet, sour and spicy. It is added with lingering touch of the prawn paste in aftertaste. It’s such a small bowl but it so satisfying in your tongue until you want a seconds.
