KEDAH DARUL AMAN (ASSIGNMENT 2)


We all know the current Kedah's political situation. What's happening at Kedah?

Around 100 Kedah PKR divisional and branch leaders left the party because of dissatisfaction with its central party leadership.  These leaders who declared as left the party currently support the Perikatan Nasional (PN) and claim to be part of an NGO related to PN, the Penggerak Komuniti Negara (PKN).

what is Perikatan Nasional? it's a conservative political alliance in Malaysia that was created between the member parties of Barisan Nasional, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, and Parti Islam Se-Malaysia.

Assemblyman Azman Nasrudin stated in a news conference in Pendang on 16 may 2020 that at least “8,000 to 10,000” PKR members are expected to leave the party and join the PKN.

He and other leaders took off their PKR uniforms and plotted the party's flag as a symbolic exit party. Sidam Assemblyman and Lunas declared they were leaving the party because they currently supported Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin's leadership.


Due to Sidam Assemblyman and Lunas exit from the party, PKR Kedah said it would sue 2 assemblymen who left RM10 million each for "betraying" the party and voters.

According to State PKR chairman Johari Abdul said Sidam assemblyman Robert Ling Kui Ee and Assemblyman Azman Nasarudin had vowed not to leave the party before the election and were aware of the legal implications of doing so. The  assemblymen should be prepared to face the consequences of their actions where they'll receive the summons.



Besides that, Dato Mukhriz lost his "Menteri Beser' post the second time.  Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir announced his resignation on 17 May 2020, after losing the majority of state assemblymen.

Furthermore, during Press conferences, he said it had been clear that Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin wanted him out due to his stance against Umno and also the proposal of his father Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad that he not having confidence motion towards Muhyiddin in parliament.


Meanwhile,  Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor was announced as the 14th Kedah Menteri Besar. Muhammad Sanusi, 46, is known as 'Timbalan Pesuruhjaya 1 Pas Kedah' and was previously the Opposition Leader of the Kedah state assembly.

 In a letter issued by the office of the Secretary of State, there was stated the new Kedah Menteri Besar's Appointment Ceremony has be held at the Royal Highness Office of the Sultan of Kedah in Wisma Darul Aman at 2 pm Sunday(17 May 2020).

Finally, On 20th May the new Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has been announced his 10-member state executive council with four from PAS, three from Pribumi Bersatu, two independents and one from Umno.
