MALAYSIA POLITICAL SITUATION (ASSIGNMENT 2)

Every Malaysian citizen aware that GE14 was a historic moment where the almost 60 years ruling coalition Barisan Nasional was defeated by Pakatan Harapan chaired by Tun Dr. Mahathir who is also the former chairman of Barisan Nasional and former Prime Minister. The question is whether the statesman carry the same charisma when he was in his first term? What really happens during the post GE14? What leads to the downfall of PH after 22 months?

Pakatan Harapan is a coalition which consists of four parties namely Anwar’s PKR, Chinese based DAP, a faction of PAS called AMANAH lead by Mat Sabu and followed Bersatu chaired by Mahathir and the president were Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. It is considered remarkable because for the first time in Malaysian history Opposition won. They came to power after defeating Najib’s BN by throwing all sorts of the allegation. Here, in this context, we have to thank the grandmaster Mahathir because all the credits go to him since Anwar has failed to be PM for two terms. I think Mr Mahathir came to power to save his business interest and cronies because there is no major achievement, he did unlike in his first term. This can be clearly seen in his cabinet members namely Dr Maszlee in Education Ministry who only care about the shoe colour and immoral act of Azmin Ali. Why the grandmaster does not want to control? Because he knew he will be for a short period only. He still failed to request Azmin to take garden leave because he wants Azmin's support of PKR. Why Mahathir has to play double game?

Is this how a nonagenarian should behave? Next, is political appointments. I still remember their manifesto eliminating all political appointees in GLC. However, things turn sour when they replace with their own people. Example, SPAN Chairman was DAP MP YB Charles, Wan Saiful for PTPTN, Latheefa Koya in MACC and many more. All these incidents clearly show the nonagenarian is not keeping to his promise and yet cheating the people. Speaking to the downfall of PH. Initially, I suspected Mahathir with his promise on power transition to Anwar and it became reality when the Langkawi MP surprisingly resign. Actually, the grandmaster is the one who destroys the PH. My question, does Tun consulted with his allied parties before he resigns? No, he did not consult and resign immediately even though the King advised not to do so. Furthermore, it is reported prior to his resignation Mahathir had his meeting with main Malay political leaders without Anwar’s PKR and Mat Sabu’s AMANAH to form a Malay majority government. In the first place, Mahathir should decline the option and immediately conduct an emergency PH meeting instead of keeping silence and secretly make way to current PM Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. Please wait as the drama is not over yet. He supported Muhyiddin at first place instead of Anwar and criticize Muhyiddin openly later. Although this nonagenarian has developed Malaysia, his dirty politics carried for decades cannot erase easily. Now, he is again making drama with his son Mukhriz Mahathir by showing no confidence to the current PM. Subsequently, his and four others’ membership have been nullified. I hope the Langkawi MP resign from politics and give way to the younger generation.
