THE KRIS NAME TAMING SARI



Taming Sari is a famous Kris in Malay folklore and always been mention inside Malays ancient literature together with its mighty wielder known as Hang Tuah. It is pronounced as [Ta-Ming Sa-Ri] in Malay tongue. This Kris name has two meaning which can associate with “flower shield” or “beautiful shield”.

 It is believed to been wielded by the legendary Malaccan warrior known as Hang Tuah and it is believe to grant physical invulnerability toward its wielder. This Kris is famous due to its having magical enchantment granted during battle. It is also been mention to capable floating on the air while chasing after the enemy that run away.

The Kris Taming Sari was said to have been created through 21 different types of metal ingredient. The entire set of the sampir (upper wooden part) and batang (lower part of the wooden sheath) was covered with the gold leaf. It can be classified as a Keris gabus or Keris terapang (the one having cross-piece or sheath covered with gold).

Conclusion, this Kris Taming Sari can be said as a symbol for Malacca prosperity and advance at the time. This Kris is so popular within Malay culture until it’s deeming as one of the precious artifact even among the rest of royal regalia actually.
